Brittisk landslagsspelare klar för Warberg!

Med en bakgrund inom landhockey och att ha spelat i en innebandyliga med i stort sett bara män kommer nu lagkaptenen i det brittiska innebandylandslaget att prova på världens bästa liga, SSL. Något som är lite av en dröm som går i uppfyllelse.

- I feel really excited and honoured to have this opportunity. Playing in Sweden has always been a dream of mine and I am so lucky to be joining Warberg this coming season. Joining the SSL is a goal I never expected i could achieve and now it is a reality. I am more motivated than ever. It will teach me so much and I hope to also inspire other floorball players from similar countries like England from where floorball is a widely unknown sport.

Omställningen mot att spela i den engelska ligan till att spela mot de bästa i världen varje vecka blir en upplevelse i sig. Men hur är det egentligen att som damspelare spela innebandy i ett land som Storbritannien?

- The English Floorball League is a very small male dominated league, where few women play. We will always play two games in one day where other teams will referee and we don’t get the luxury of Floorball halls but we get noisy sports halls! We all still have a great passion for the sport and I would say the standard is good. Being a woman playing with and against mainly men has made me a stronger player of course, however naturally you do feel like the odd one out which is why joining an all female team is so exciting. I would love for more women around the country to be introduced to floorball and for more to join teams in the league. 

Vad är det då för spelare som Warbergspubliken får se kommande säsong? Och vad kan Megan tillföra till sitt nya lag?

- I am a very determined and hard working player, no matter if we are winning or losing I will always give 100%. This is definitely a good trait I can bring to the team and especially when playing in a league with the worlds best floorball players. I see myself as a strong player physically and mentally which again I know I won't give up when times get hard but also being able to stay positive on and off the pitch and bring anyone who is down, back up.

Tränare Sheffield, tillika förbundskapten för det brittiska landslaget, vet vad han får i Megan.

- Ett spännande nyförvärv som även om hon enbart spelat i en mindre innebandynation har visat sin kvalitet i internationella matcher. Megan är en spelare med stor passion och driv för sin utveckling. En center med bra fysik och spelförståelse.
