Morics Krumins stannar i Warberg!

-For me it all depends on how my body feels. As long as I stay healthy and feel motivated, I’m ready to continue playing for a few more years. I still enjoy the game a lot and I feel that I can contribute to the team. Next season will also be very important because it’s a World Floorball Championship year. Hopefully I will still have the chance to represent the Latvian national team in December at the championship in Finland. Most likely that will be my last World Championship, so it would mean a lot to finish that chapter in a good way. After that, I hope I can still have a few good years ahead of me here in Varberg. I can definitely see myself finishing my playing career in this club. And who knows, maybe after my playing career I could stay involved in floorball and help as a coach for some junior team. That would be something special as well!
So, it sounds like it was a easy choice to stay in Warberg?
-Yes, for me it was an obvious choice to stay here in Varberg. This place really feels like home for me and my family, so the decision actually came quite early that I wanted to continue here. During my time in Varberg I’ve built great friendships, both inside and outside the team, and the whole organization is working at a very high level when it comes to developing floorball. The club has clear ambitions for the future, and it’s motivating to be part of that journey. I enjoy the environment, the people around the team, and the way the club is moving forward. All of that made the decision to stay another year very natural for me.
You are about to finish your third season here. How would you describe your own development and performance during these three years?
-I think everything has been moving in the right direction, both for me personally and for the organization. When I arrived, we were an Allsvenskan team, and during these years we have managed to grow into a stable SSL team with big ambitions for the future. It has been really exciting to be part of that development.
Personally, I also feel that my game has improved during these years. Playing in the SSL demands a lot, especially physically, and I think I have adapted well to that level. My game has become more physical and more consistent, which is one of the key requirements when you want to compete at this level. I’m always trying to learn and improve, and being in such a competitive league pushes you to become a better player every season.
You missed the playoffs. What are your thoughts about that and what do you think is needed to succeed next year?
-Of course it hurts that we missed the playoffs because that was our main goal this season. At the same time, we also have to look at the bigger picture. We are still a relatively young team with many talented players who have a lot of potential for the future. Sometimes in sports you can’t skip steps in the development process, and we might just need a little more time to grow together as a group. I also try to look at it from a positive perspective. Not long ago we were promoted to the SSL, and last season our main fight was to stay in the league. This year we were already much closer to reaching the playoffs, which shows that we are moving in the right direction. Because of that, I truly believe that next season can be Warberg’s year. If we keep working hard and continue developing as a team, I’m confident that we can take that next step and play in the playoffs.
