-I am feeling very excited about upcoming changes in my life and I am very looking forward to joining Warberg in next season. I have to say that I already now can not wait for the first home game since I had the opportunity to visit Varberg in February during a home game and the atmosphere was amazing.

What made you take the decision to leave Nokian in the finnish top league for Warberg in Allsvenskan?

-Well, after eleven seasons in Finland, it was time for the changes. I went to Finland in junior age, and had the opportunity to grow and develop there together with my former club, and in those past years I had the chance to experience many great things. Before I moved to Finland I already knew that some day I would definitely want to play in Sweden. I even started to study Swedish language in my first year in Finland! And now eleven years later another small dream is coming true, very soon I will play floorball in Sweden. If I remember correct, first time I was in contact with Johan was back in 2018, but then I have just started to study in university and I needed to put my plan about playing in Sweden on hold. This year it was perfect timing when Johan contacted me about my future plans, because my studies was over and me and my fiancee were looking for new challenges in our life. It was easy to make decision about moving to Warberg, because Johan made us feel very welcomed and even during our visit everything from the clubs point was planned excellent. Honestly when I made the deal with Warberg I was sure they will qualify for SSL, but it doesn’t change the thing, because I’m pretty sure that next season we will achieve that goal together. This is just going to be exciting journey for all of us together!

For those who doesnt know you as a player yet, how would you describe yourself?

-I’m defender, more like attacking defender. I see my self effective in defence and think I’m able to read the game very well and adopt for different situations. I think my other strengths are 1 vs 1 situation in defense, especially in corners, where I almost always come out as winner. I also like to support the offensive game and I enjoy goal scoring. As player I’m motivated, and hard working, I like to push for the limits. I have always tried to play for the team and logo, and be an example for younger players.

What do you know about Warberg as club and the city you are moving to?

-Well, I know for the fact that Warberg is legendary club in Sweden, and it have many Championship titles. Many great floorball players like Magnus Svensson and Tero Tiitu have played there, and I followed them when I grow up. So I’m very excited to be part of the club with such a historical background. I visited Varberg in February, and city is very lovely and everything is close by. Arvid (Vonk) showed me everything around and I had the best impressions from the city. I don’t know much about city yet, but I will have plenty of time to explore Varberg and Swedens nature.

What do you hope to contribute to Warberg?

-Well the ultimate goal is to bring Warberg back to SSL to the place where it belongs. I will do everything what is in my power to reach that goal by playing for the team and logo. Also as much as possible I will try to share my experiences with younger players and I will help them to take the next steps together for becoming better players.

You have a lot of international experience from the Latvian nationalteam, how is your thoughts about that the coming seasons?

-Well we have had good thing going on for many years, for the last twelve years we had two different Finnish coaches and after last WFC we got a new coach again from Finland, my former coach from Nokian KrP. The team have stayed similar for many years and in past competitions we have proved that we are getting closer to the top four countries. So very soon our training camps will start again, and we are going to start to build the new team for next WFC. It’s going to be very exciting time for Latvian National team, because the new coach will come in with new ideas, and he have clear vision how to bring us in top four.

When is the plan to join the team during this summer?

-We are coming in three weeks to Varberg, but just for a very short visit, we will move all our stuff from Finland there, and then we will travel to home to Latvia. This summer will be very busy with few national team camps, our wedding and my own floorball camp for kids. The plan is to come and join the team in June, and then July I will train individually at home town, but from August me and my family will move to Varberg.

A big welcome and we are looking forward to see you in our blue shirt!

-Thanks for having me, I’m looking forward to our journey!
